SCAI/ACC/CRF Emerging Leader Mentorship Program
Dr. Anita Asgar and Dr. Marc Jolicoeur, both from the Montreal Heart Institute, have been selected from 135 applicants to complete a two-year professional development opportunity called the Emerging Leader Mentorship (ELM) program. The prestigious program emerged from a formal partnership between the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI), the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF). This is a small, highly selective group of physicians (up to 10 per two-year cycle) who will be exposed to a wide range of experiences designed to accelerate their research, presentation, teaching and leadership competencies.
ELM Fellows participate in six (6) training sessions over a two-year period which are timed with the SCAI, TCT and ACC annual conferences; each is assigned a Mentor specifically chosen to match their interests and aspirations. Through satellite sessions participants explore other topics such as dedicated leadership skill training, Professional Association operations and the role of industry. Each is encouraged to assist in identifying committee service opportunities and faculty assignments with both SCAI and partnering organizations. The core goal of the ELM program is for each Fellow to proactively identify opportunities that are congruent with their interests, developing niches and development of their own ideas & projects. Progress over the two-year period is actively tracked by the Program Committee to assure success outcomes.
ELM is designed for operators who are early in their career and will remain available to our Canadian operator community. If you would like to learn further details on the ELM program please don’t hesitate to contact either Anita or Marc directly. Further information can also be found on the SCAI website.
